Where I can find to buy?
@@keylorpeixotoalvespeixoto4793 Reverb is probably the best way.
More volume
Put it on 11
I don’t know if it’s gating or a hard limiter, but the levels get really weird when he’s demoing sounds toward the end. Everything sounds blown out, as if it’s being squished and/or clipped. It’s a fantastic interview and Ian Allison is great, so I really want to hear those board sounds cleanly!
@@copasetic1 shot on iPhone my dude.
I’ve been playing my Jazz V Ultra since the 90s. I love it. But since I got my Modulus Quantum 5 about 10 years ago, the Fender usually stays at home.
@@frostriver4547 very cool, that’s actually a good topic. There can be only one. Seems like we all favor one bass over others and it becomes our go to bass. Thanks for watching and please like and subscribe.
i remember when the cutlass first came out it was around $1200 and ended up going to $1700 when music man raised all their prices. i was kicking myself for not getting one at the initial price, as the neck was amazing. but i ended up finding one just like yours used but like new for $850 on reverb and shortly after they were discontinued. i imagine the seller was kicking himself after seeing what they sell for now
It’s a great bass, I don’t play it as often as I used to. But I am not planning on parting with it any time soon.
still today it's difficult to find a detailed review like yours tysm
🍻🍻🍻
🍺
Still have the cutlass?
Absolutely, it’s a great bass!
Would you consider selling it? How can I get in touch?
Good to give a general comment that if it is flat or sharp at the 12th then adjust the bridge with the screw in a ( ) rotation.
I lost my Gruv Gear strap at the Bloomsburg fair. I miss that thing. One item every bassist needs is a quality DI box or an amp that has a good XLR out. I would expand that to having a good Amp Sim / IR with an XLR out. So many times I don’t even bring an amp. Knowing I can rely on the FoH to manage my sound and send me a good mix to my in ears is a big load off my mind. And it makes load-in / out so much quicker and lets me go to bed when I get home without worrying about unloading or leaving speakers and a head in my car.
And I played a short time with Dave Ferrara. Easy guy to communicate with but felt so comfortable playing with.
So very glad to be able to play music, but also to have a job to support my family and fund my future. It’s not easy out there. I’d like to do a gig-day live stream one day just to show venue owners and other non-musicians what actually goes into a 3 hour gig…including recovering from the lack of sleep the next day.
True, do it. It’s not easy, I’m so glad not to do the 2am hustle to get up and have to be functional in 4 hours or less.
Nice talk, Steve! I had no idea he was coming around.
Thanks man, Sellersville Theater is a hidden gem, there are a ton of great players coming through there and it’s close to the Ken Smith shop too.
is that laura leezy on the strap?
So sorry STEVE THE BASS GUY,,meant to tell you how amazing your videos are & THANK YOU ,,FRM ARKANSAS USA 🎸🤠
Thank you 🙏
You & Scott are so great & your are fantastic,,,one of USA,s best bass guys playing and I'm sure just as a person ,,,keep ROCKIN it all bass brother ,,, frm Arkansas 🎸🤠
So cool to see you in action ❤❤❤❤
Great solo, Ian!
😎👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Obviously the speaker if not also the amp head are not carry on
Ian states that the amp and head are rented for the tour.
Good stuff love Phil Jones amps, just a heads up in case some folks missed it, the bass engine 17 does have a Bluetooth connection for connecting an external BT source for playback ie.... mobile phones, music players, tablets etc....
This is mentioned at 9:14, thanks for reinforcing it. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
Yo!! Thanks for the hang Steve! Sorry my rig was so loud and toasted your cam levels 😂
I think it came out pretty good. Thanks for the meet up.
5:47 What La Bella strings are you talking about? Are they on the market yet?
@@chace90Olinto signature flats
I was going to say, all settings sound pretty much identical, and I don't like any of them LOL
Where can I get a hat just like Ian's?
I think I was more excited about the bladerunner 2049 strap and Ian being a fan of denis lol
Hijacking the thread a bit, but GHS pressurewound strings are a neat animal. Instead of grinding off the tops, they are compressed smooth. I dig the feel and the sound works for me. Now back to your regularly scheduled shenanigans. And I hope to meet Ian one day, seems like a genuinely nice guy and damn good bass player.
I have ghs pressure wounds on my 60,s jazz & makes it sound even sweeter,,LOVE THEM 🎸😎
Sick interview. That IMA4 is sooo beautiful 😍 Ian's the man.
Nice!
very nice bass. I have a Tacoma abg that I replaced the pre amp and piezzo with a k&k pure sound under bridge pick up. I now control the bass from the amp. imo better than factory sound.
Are you interested in selling your bass?
Hi Steve. I have enjoyed your stuff on Bass Musician magazine. I like this video, very practical!
Awesome, thank you!
Love this format. Glad to see it return Looking forward to seeing more.
Awesome, thank you!
Mike Pinder.
Dude stfu and just play, let the pedal do the talking it’s after 2 am and I wanna hear the pedal, not you
Great review.
Excellent production. Excellent music. Bass phenomenal. Really enjoyed it.
I think you need a compressor between the bass and the Mel9. Many of the notes you hit are far louder than others. That would wreak havoc on the FOH system, sending the sub amps into clipping and possibly blowing speakers. Plus, it would drive the sound tech nuts.
Good point for a live performance, for a demo only one pedal at a time.
Really good appraisal of this pedal Steve - definitely opened my eyes as to what it is capable of. I initially thought that it was more for electric guitar but there's definitely a lot more to explore. Great review as always. I'm subscribed and looking forward to seeing more stuff from you soon. God bless you mate. 😊
Hello DUDE Do you use an expression pedal?
I do
@@SteveTheBassGuy so in your video, the sound comes from an expression pedal as well, if you use the Electro harmonix synth pedals without expression pedal : can you still get same great effect sound in your videos??
@@stevewindsenergy I am not using it in the video, I use it once in a while on gigs. It’s not the most user friendly part of the product. If you are looking to real adjust the effect on the job it may not be the best choice. Please remember to like and subscribe
Hi, can you bow with it. And is there guitare like it
The cutaway isn’t available to be able to use a bass bow on it, they do make a finger bow that is very short and that would possibly work. The radius is enough to get string articulation.
@@SteveTheBassGuy Thanx that's a very interesting instrument. I'm searching inspiration to transform my PRS into a bowed guitar
Just want to point out when you only use flat wounds (which I love). It doesn't really show any real capabilities of this amp due to the limited frequency range it takes up. The round wounds would let us hear how the amp really affects the hi-fi frequencies and super lows. Thank you for doing this!
You are correct, however I did not have a bass with rounds at the time. So I had to work with what I had. Thanks for watching.
@@SteveTheBassGuy I'm actually really looking into buying this amp, have you had a chance to try with rounds? I'd love to hear your take on it.
@@haneyhanes I have, it’s a great amp 120 tube watts. There is a newer version with a mid control. It’s very similar to the Ampeg VB4. I currently only use my SVT for gigs and a B15s for sessions.
